If you always shiver when you walk into a room or rooms in your house, it’s likely because of uneven heating (or cooling) and it’s one of the most common complaints we hear at Mast Heating & Cooling.
If that’s the case in your home, then you need to call and talk to us about how to fix the problem. One of the best solutions is a ductless mini split heat pump. It’s a way to add cooling or heating to a particular location in your home without having to add any ductwork.
There can be as many as four indoor air handlers, set at different temperatures for your personal comfort, connected to one outdoor condenser. It’s a great way to introduce the principle of “zoning” to your HVAC system.
The ease of installation is another big advantage. Because mini splits don’t require ductwork, all you need is a 3-inch hole to connect the air handler to the outside condenser. In addition, the outdoor unit can be hidden behind shrubs or behind the house up to 50-feet away.
A ductless system from Mast Heating & Cooling also eliminates the loss of efficiency (typically about 30%) as the warm or cold air moves through the ducts. Instead, a mini split system delivers the conditioned air directly to the living area you want to heat or cool.
They are great for virtually any kind of project. In new construction, it’s a great companion to in-floor radiant heating because you can cool the house without adding expensive ductwork.
If you’re remodeling a garage, attic, or basement and turning it into a living space, mini splits can heat AND cool those areas that may not be connected to your current central system.
